Atrion's REACH Solutions
The long-awaited EU REACH Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 was published on the
18th of December, 2006—setting out new requirements for the control of chemicals
throughout the EU. While some provisions came into force on 1st of June, 2007,
the majority will be delayed until 1st June, 2008, 1st June, 2009 with a final
provision to be met in 2018.
Rules-Based Regulatory Document Generation
Atrion is prepared to help clients meet upcoming REACH requirements by
providing solutions to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance as well as generate
rules-based regulatory documents.
Our regulatory compliance engine will be extended to automate generation of a
'use based' extended REACH Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in multiple languages without re-entering the
'hazard' and 'exposure' profile of every product. Today, the compliance engine
is heavily used within the formula-based process industry (ie.)(Paint, Coatings
& Inks) for 'rules based' Safety Data Sheet generation in 43 languages,
complying with national regulations & industry sector guidelines.
With data submission requirements of REACH and other legislative programs
such as OECD HPV, EU Biocides and others, IUCLID 5 will play a central role. To
ensure consistency between substance data submitted for registration and
information communicated in the supply chain on the REACH e-SDS, Atrion’s
bi-directional data exchange interface with IUCLID 5 “REACH Exchange” is
available.
Supply Chain Communication and Substance Volume Tracking
Do You Know Your Suppliers’ REACH Registration
Intentions?
The lack of knowledge about whether or not your suppliers
intend to register the substances you depend on can have serious consequences
on your business. Can you count on your supplier to register? Will you need to change
your supplier? Will you need to change your formula? Will you need to register your substances yourself? These are some of the
possible registration scenarios that could impact your business. Understanding
the intent of your supplier is critical.
Additionally, communication with downstream users
is also required to identify how your product is used in order to develop and
provide the appropriate exposure scenarios.
REACHtracker™ enables companies to analyse ‘supplier
registration intentions’ and ‘customer uses’ to determine the effect REACH will
have on their product line.
